Geri Byrne, 50, of Tulelake, has been appointed to the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair Board of Directors (10a District Agricultural Association). She has served on the Board of Directors since 1998. Byrne has owned Border Collies in Action since 1987 and currently serves as partner of Robert A. Byrne cattle ranch, where she has been employed since 1980. She is a member of the Modoc County Farm Bureau and serves on the grant committee for the McConnell Foundation. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Byrne is a Republican.

Richard Courier, 65, of Petaluma, has been appointed to the Sonoma-Marin Fair Board of Directors (4th District Agricultural Association). Since 1995, he has owned the small business and law enforcement consulting firm, R. Richard Courier Consulting. Previously, Courier was director of public safety for Sonoma State University from 1974 to 1995 and served the Novato Police Department from 1964 to 1974 in various positions including, officer, lieutenant and interim police chief. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Courier is a Democrat.

Russell Criss, 59, of Macdoel, has been appointed to the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair Board of Directors (10a District Agricultural Association). He has served on the Board of Directors since 1978. Criss has served as owner and operator of 4 C Cattle since 1980 and previously worked for Criss Brothers Ranch from 1968 to 1980. He is a Siskiyou County 4-H leader and a member of the National, State and Siskiyou County Cattlemen’s Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Criss is a Republican.

Ava Edgar, 47, of Tulelake, has been appointed to the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair Board of Directors (10a District Agricultural Association). From 1983 to 2003, she served Cal-Ore Telephone Company as office manager. Previously, Edgar was a member of the Tulelake City Council from 2000 to 2001. She is a past 4-H club leader and past member of Business and Professional Women’s Organization. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Edgar is a Republican.

Joan Haskins, 71, of Tulelake, has been appointed to the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair Board of Directors (10a District Agricultural Association). She has served on the Board of Directors since 2002 and has served as an inspector/poll-worker for the Election Board in Siskiyou County since 1963. Previously, Haskins was a bookkeeper for Ganger Insurance from 1999 to 2002, school bus driver for Tulelake Joint Unified School District from 1978 to 1985 and owner and operator of Haskins Farms from 1953 to 1988. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Haskins is a Democrat.

Brian Keith, 36, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy director of critical infrastructure for the Office of Homeland Security. Since 2005, he has served as deputy director of grants management for the Office of Homeland Security. From 2004 to 2005, Keith served as the preparedness officer for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Previously, he was a senior program specialist for the Office of Emergency Services and the Office of Criminal Justice Planning, where he managed the California Anti-Terrorism Information Center and a Military Intelligence Cell for the National Guard Counter-Terrorism Task Force. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $105,576. Keith is a Republican.
