![]() Hapeville Details: The Hapeville Depot was constructed by the Central Railroad in 1890, one year before the city was granted its charter. Later the railroad’s name was changed to Central of Georgia, then to Southern Railroad, and presently the Norfolk Southern Railroad. The original building was remodeled and enlarged in 1947. The Depot was again renovated in 1980 by the Depot Restoration Committee. The Hapeville Historical Society was organized in 1981 and was headquartered in the west side. The two groups merged in 1982 adding new impetus to the development of the Museum. Volunteers from the Historical Society and the Hapeville Service League staff the Depot Museum. The Christ Church was built in 1895 and it served as an Episcopal Church for approximately 10 years. It was then used for classroom space and was converted to a family residence in 1927. In 1986 it was purchased by the Hapeville Historical Society and was moved to its present location and restored. Weddings and other events have been held at Christ Church. The Depot Museum is currently open on Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 – 3:00 and on Sunday from 1:00 – 4:00. There is no cost for admission. For information regarding the rental of Christ Church or for Museum tours or openings on other days please call the Museum at 404-669-2175 and leave a message.
